Kay Wardle writes:
Friday weather forecast made for gloomy reading, and a
number of boats called to say that they wouldn't be able to make the protest. I
began to worry that it would be just ourselves and couple of committed others,
especially as when dawn broke the heavens opened. However, enough valiant souls
braved the elements to make a show, and in the afternoon then the sun came out
we collected a number of signatures to add to the petition.
The Wharf Cafe had a chilli on offer as a blockade
special.
About 15 boats took part with about 100 supporters.
Media coverage was by a BBC Points West camera, the
local paper - the Gazette and Herald -and a photographer from
Waterways World.
